Sami Yusuf was born in July 1980 in a musical family of Azeri origin, learning to play several instruments at a very young age and showed great interest in singing and composition. He studied music at several institutions and with renowned composers and musicians and composers from the Royal Academy of Music in London, one of the institutions of the world's most prestigious music. In addition to studying the harmonic and Western composition, Sami has a solid understanding of how the Middle East (or Maqam) and a deep knowledge and familiarity with Eastern and Western musical traditions.
